Voodoo Vince is a voodoo doll living in pre-Katrina New Orleans. He is the third favorite doll of his owner, the voodoo priestess Madam Charmaine. Vince's adventure begins when Charmaine is kidnapped by Kosmo the Inscrutable, who wants Charmaine's magical Zombie Dust. Vince must make his way from the French Quarter through Crypt City, Brusque Manor, the Bayou, and the Carnival DePrave that is run by Kosmo.

The game has many traditional platforming elements, including the collection of zombie dust bags, hearts, and skull pages. To inflict pain on enemies you can use the traditional jump and punch or a spin attack where Vince spins around with his arms flailing in a circle. The novel attacks Vince has for attacking his enemies are his voodoo powers. Acquired gradually as the game progresses, different attacks allow Vince to inflict pain upon himself in many creative ways, hurting all of the enemies nearby. Since discovering the attacks is one of the gems of the game, I will only tell you that each attack is hilarious, yet powerful at the same time.
The music was written specifically for the game by Steve Kirk and is heavily influenced by jazz and the south. The music in this game is more than atmospheric, its jazzy ****gets in your head and stays there. I bought the soundtrack years ago, and still listen to it today. You can hear the only song with words, the largely instrumental theme song here: (http://www.beepindustries.com/games/media/index.htm)

The graphics are lush and beautiful, but occasionally make it difficult to determine where the solution to a puzzle is due to the depth of the graphics and the fact that not all movable items stand out as much as they could. The entire game experience is truly unique, and has spawned lots of fan tributes, including a ball team who chose Vince as their mascot.

Unfortunately, after Voodoo Vince Beep Industries did nothing with the VV license. After what seemed like an eon of no news, Beep has since moved into developing casual puzzle games.
You can read more about the development of the game at the game's creator Clayton Kauzlaric's blog for his loving descriptions of Vince, including shots of what was left on the cutting room floor. The blog provides a great place to ask questions, and from my discussions with fans on the GameFAQs board for VV, Clayton does respond to email questions asked of him.
